Last summer, I took a part-time job in a supermarket, where I was responsible for the bags sale, clutch bags in particular. It was one of the most valuable experiences in my life, through which I have learned a lot about bags sale and also some important lessons for life.
As is known to all, well begun is half done. The first day at work was really unforgettable, but it was also tough. In the early morning, I struggled in the noise of the alarm and got out of the bed with yawns and stretches. Having no time to have the breakfast, I hurried to the bus station and waited for a long time until the bus came.
When I reached to supermarket, I was out of breath, only to find that I was still ten minutes late. I thought I must have been scolded badly for being late on the first day. However, to my surprise, the manager didn't say anything. She gave me a big smile while seeing me, and handed me a big red apple! Was it an "award" for my being late? I was totally confused but happy. Later, she said to me, " Welcome on board, Rachel. Have a nice day! Oh, and remember, don't be late next time. Ok?"
Inspired and moved by the manager's words and deeds, I made up my mind to try my best selling as many clutch bags as possible. In the first day, I sold out 30 bags in total, which was really a good beginning to me. Of course, it was not always easy to persuade the consumers buying at the price we offered. With the help of other staff and the manager, I learned fast and was doing better and better.
Every time I did a good job, the manager would give me a kind of fruit as award. Although I didn't have a very high salary, I still enjoyed what I did. On the last day of my part-time job, I wrote a letter to the manager and thanked him for his help and encouragements he gave me. The most valuable and unforgettable thing I've got from that experience was the crystally-clear hearts of people around me and the truth that success depends on unyielding efforts.
